Ive used the Damp Rid hanging pouches many times in smaller rooms and closets with good results. Please be aware though that this product can be dangerous to children and pets.My 1 yr old dog had managed to get into a bag that I had hanging and was at the time halfway filled with water. When I found him he had what looked to be water (with a strong odor) all over his legs, tummy and chest. So immediately I bathed him, which by this time his skin was turning very red. Within 36 hrs he could hardly walk and had formed spots on the affected areas that were black and felt rough to the touch. After taking him to the vet we were told that these were chemical burns and that his skin was dying off due to the contact with the Calcium Chloride crystals and residue in the water pouch. It is now 3 weeks later and he is healing, slowly. Its been a lot of antibiotics, pain meds, vet visits and doggy watching to keep him from making things worse. I didnt realize until days after he came into contact with the water that it was Calcium Chloride inside. I did some research and it turns out that calcium chloride is an irritant and burns when it comes into contact with moist skin. There have been cases of children and pets burning their mouths and asophagus. This is a great product and definitly does what it is supposed to do, I just thought I should share our experience. Please be careful with this product as you would with anything that has chemicals or may be harmful.

I recently discovered a musty, "mildewy" type of smell in the closet that houses my hot water heater and some other things I store there; and I decided to try Damp Rid in order to control and neutralize the smell! Boy, am I glad I chose this product! It's very easy to use this--it's child's play. Just open the box, remove one of the three packs of Damp Rid and hang it in the closet where you need to have the bad odor removed. It right away struck me with a strong baby powder type of smell but fortunately I like the smell of baby powder. It hangs on a plastic hanger that comes attached to it and when the white crystals inside the bag stop being white you just throw it away and use a new one as a replacement.I am very impressed with this product. I've only had it a couple of days not but it made a huge difference in the smell of the closet right away. Closets, of course, have little or no ventilation so any musty smell will just stay there. If you have anything like a hot water heater or anything flammable in your closet I would use Damp Rid instead of an air freshener which itself might also be flammable. The package has three bags each lasting about 60 days. That's a six month supply and I'm very pleased. The cost is well worth it.Of course, this can be used in other areas just as Amazon notes; garages, bathrooms, laundry rooms and more. Although they say it's septic safe I would dispose of these in the garbage; I certainly wouldn't put this down into any septic system. In addition, this product has a strong scent. If you are allergic to scents you may need to choose another product.Overall, this is one awesome product. I highly recommend Damp Rid for neutralizing bad odors in closets and more and replacing them with a baby powder smell.

Serious damage caused to articles of clothing (through normal usage) by Damp Rid product leakage. In my attempt to resolve this loss with Damp Rids Insurance Adjuster, I sent the clothes and the at fault Damp Rid hanging bag with my assessment of the loss I incurred (valued at min. $1000). In their response, the company spat in my face in their attempt to resolve this loss. Io was offered $90, no admittance of fault, and it was made apparent that as a consumer, I was not a concern for them. Needless to say, I am no longer the loyal user I was, and vowed to share my experience in every venue I could find.
